It has a lot of beautiful palaces, fountains and green parks with playgrounds.
The city's symbol is the Mermaid of Warsaw, called Melusina.
There are several stories about the mermaid.
One says that the mermaid decided to stay in Warsaw after stopping on a riverbank near the old town. Fishermen noticed her singing and fell in love with her. They rescued the mermaid after a rich merchant wanted to keep her with him and ever since then she protects the city and the people who live there.
