The USA is a large country with a very
big coastline on both sides of the country.
There are lots of mountains all over America,
but the Rocky Mountains are the most famous.
In summertime in America, children go swimming at the pool.
Some kids go to the beach to play in the waves and build sandcastles.
American kids love to go to summer camp, where you can ride horses and explore in the woods. Lots of kids go to the mountains in the summer to play in the fresh air.
Who do you know in your family who can tell you more about summer in America?
Maybe Mum has old photos from when she was a child.
Are you curious about winter in the USA? Here’s something
that is very special about America, Oliver:
The country is so big that in some parts
of the country, it stays frosty and snowy all winter long,
but in other regions, it stays pretty warm and sunny
through the whole winter.
That means that a boy in Los Angeles could be walking around under palm trees eating ice cream, while at the same time in the same country a girl in New York is ice skating and catching snowflakes!
Can Mum tell you more about her winter experiences when she was a child?
Anyone's stomach will start to rumble
after playing sports, right?
Time to eat!
What do you think Americans like to eat?
Americans can be proud of the country's original inhabitants,
the Native Americans.
They are also known as the American Indians.
They lived in the USA long before Christopher Columbus arrived
in America with a boat.

Your Journey to
Many, many years ago Mum came into this world.
This was a long time before you were born, Oliver!
Mum was born as you were, but she was not born in Switzerland,
where you live now. Mum was born in the United States of America,
which is in a different country and on a different continent.
Let's share more about this wonderful place because, in a way,
a part of you also comes from America.
Here you can see a map of the world, Oliver.
Can you find the flag with a white cross
on red background?
Very good!
This is where you are right now – in Switzerland!
The American flag
has white and red stripes,
and up in the corner,
there is a box with white stars
on it.
Can you see it?
That is where the USA is.
How far away is the USA?
You canʼt get there with the car because there is a big, watery ocean in between.
You have to get there with a plane, and the flight takes around 10 hours. How long are 10 hours? You usually sleep about that long when you sleep in your bed all night long.
Or 10 hours is the time from when we eat
breakfast until dinner time.
Wow... It takes a long time to get to America!
It is very far away!

There is another difference between America and Switzerland: the money!
When you are out shopping, you've probably seen
the coins and banknotes used in Switzerland. They are called Swiss Franc.
They are called Swiss Franc.
In the USA the money is called Dollar, and it looks different.
Does Mum have some US coins to show you?
American children put dollars and quarters
and nickels in their piggy banks!
Have you ever seen
any of this stuff, Oliver?
This is the equipment used for playing some
of America's favorite sports.
All over the country,
children love to play baseball,
basketball, football
and hockey.
Anyone's stomach will start to rumble
after playing sports, right?
Time to eat!
What do you think Americans like to eat?
Burgers with fries are a favorite, sometimes with melted cheese,
crisp lettuce, juicy tomato and crunchy pickles.
Macaroni and cheese are very popular - yummy curved pasta with a cheesy creamy sauce.
Americans love to barbeque, especially meat like chicken wings, spare ribs or pulled pork.
The food goes straight from the grill onto your plate. And every American loves apple pie!
What are Mum's favourite American dishes? Have you ever made American food together?
Americans can be proud of the country's original inhabitants,
the Native Americans.
They are also known as the American Indians.
They lived in the USA long before Christopher Columbus arrived
in America with a boat.
There were hundreds of tribes throughout the country –
such as the Cherokee, Apache, and the Navajo tribes.
Lots of American Indians still live in the USA and some keep
their ancient traditions.
Can you imagine this, Oliver?
Why don't you ask Mum if she can tell you more
about the story of the Native Americans?
The capital of the USA is Washington, D.C.
Washington is a very big city with an important place called the White House.
The President of the United States lives and works in this building.
The President is even allowed to land with his helicopter
on the green lawn in front of the White House.
Can you see the helicopter heading for the White House, Oliver?
And which animals can you see? It is a tradition to keep pets in the White House as well as to pardon a Thanksgiving turkey. Ask Mum what this pardoning is all about.
Another beautiful and very big city
in the USA is New York City.
They call it "the city that never sleeps"
because there is always someone awake
and some fun to be found in New York.
Every year many people from around the world
visit New York to see the huge skyscrapers
and the Statue of Liberty, which stands
in the water in front of the city.
Manhattan is a part of the city that is surrounded by water.
That means you can cruise around this bustling island with a boat.
On this cruise, you can even stop at the Statue of Liberty to
climb up the stairs inside until you reach her crown.
Where exactly in the States does Mum
come from, Oliver?
You can mark the place on the map above!
Who else do you know in America?
Where do they live?
Now you have learned so many things about
the United States of America, haven’t you?
What do you find most exciting
about the country?
And what would you like to share
with your friends about the States?
They will enjoy learning more about this
wonderful country, where a part of you
also comes from. Remember that Mum is always here for you
to share more about her story and to answer anything
you are curious to know.
So, ask any questions or revisit your favorite parts of this book’s journey to Mum's home country!

I ordered the book from outside the U.S. and had an issue with the delivery. However, the customer service team was incredible—they responded quickly and resolved everything so efficiently! The book itself is beautiful, and my son loves it. It’s such a unique way to keep him connected to the U.S. despite living abroad. Highly recommend!

Living in Italy, I wanted a way for my children to understand American traditions and culture, and this book is just what we needed! The customization options are great, and the content is very engaging for kids. We’re so happy with it! I had a couple of questions, and the customer service team was quick and very helpful in answering them.

I rarely write reviews, but Cukibo deserves one. The book we ordered arrived damaged, which was disappointing. But their team was amazing—they responded to my email immediately and sent a replacement in no time. The second book was flawless. Fantastic service!

Our first book was damaged in transit, but the team at Cukibo went above and beyond to make it right. They replaced it so quickly, and the new book is stunning. I couldn’t be happier with their service!

I asked if they could include a specific location that holds sentimental value to our family, and they did it without hesitation. The team at Cukibo was so helpful and understanding. The final product was everything I hoped for and more—such a wonderful keepsake!
